Stravent delivers air curtains for Stockmann’s department store in Moscow
Stravent Oy delivers air curtains for the entrances and goods reception of Stockmann’s department store in Moscow. Stravent air curtains provide increased user-friendliness and energy-saving. The contract is for 16 air curtains for a value of over 80,000 € and delivery will take place in autumn 2006.
The Stravent air curtain efficiently reduces loss of heated air resulting from thermal outflow from the building. Up to 80% of the constant downward-flowing air mass is integrated into the natural air circulation of the room, creating an agreeable, draft-free zone close to the entrance.
The Stravent air curtain uses a patented rectifier to eliminate the turbulence usually caused by fans. A dense air stream is directed downwards and, due to optimised jet direction, only a minimal amount of air is needed to reach floor level and still provide good cover for the entrance.
The Stravent air curtain device also works with a standard fan speed. The device includes a “smart valve” allowing adjustments to the air jet, so even an increased effect does not change the air velocity. As the valve opens up, the outlet enlarges, and the broadening air stream provides greater heating with no increase in air velocity. The smooth air stream is hardly perceptible.
The patented Stravent technique creates an effective, silent and draft-free air curtain at entrances using significantly less air than traditional air curtains. Heated outdoor air is always pleasantly directed towards the space that people use. Thanks to the effective laminar flow, the building benefits from up to 80% of the heating energy, operational costs are reduced, and employees and customers are happy too.

The site on the edge of the old church park will become Helsinki’s largest congress hotel. The office building will be renovated into a 350-room hotel and is scheduled for completion in summer 2022.

The second phase of the West Metro is under construction from Matinkylä in Espoo to Kivenlahti. In all, a seven kilometre long line and five new stations are under construction: Finnoo, Kaitaa, Soukka, Espoonlahti and Kivenlahti.
